Senior Advisor for Science & Technology

Mary Kicza is a retired Federal Government senior executive with more than 35 years of aerospace and program management experience, currently consulting and advising in the areas of corporate enterprise, institutional and program management and strategic planning. She has a record of consistent achievements in the planning, development and operations of scientific and operational space missions at NASA and NOAA.


Mary has demonstrated her ability to work effectively nationally and internationally with government, industry and academia. As a senior leader within NOAA, she led the restructuring of the next generation Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-R Series) and the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS), the successful operations of a suite of 17 operational environmental satellites and three national data centers in support of NOAA’s mission, and was a leader within the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites, an international coordination forum for the management of international, civil, space-borne missions designed to observe and study the Earth. 


As a senior leader within NASA, she led the process to identify NASA core competencies across NASA Field Centers, led the effort to prioritize U.S. research on the International Space Station, and led the functional integration at NASA GSFC, encompassing workforce and facilities planning and institutional budget management and investments.
